5.50 GEN D2-D3 switcher

This cool application comes from Red Squirrel with special come back in the homebrew scene. 5.50 GEN D2-D3 switcher application is an alternative way to switch your PSP CFW from 5.50 Gen D3 to 5.50 Gen D2 and vice versa easily without using normal method (Upgrade or Downgrade). This idea came when some of the games have different compatible. 

Developer note:

• D2-D3 Switcher is a simple PSP homebrew to switch easily from CF 5.50GEN-D3 to -D2 and viceversa.
• It works changing only the peagasus.prx in Flash0. Returning to D2 (using the D2′s peagasus.prx) you will can use those savedatas that appear corrupted in D3 or play those games that have issues with D3 (such as Jak and Daxter, Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker, etc…). But remember to come back to D3 when you want to play those modern games that require it.

Requirement:

• PSP 1000 or 2000 ( CFW 5.50 Gen D3 or 5.50 Gen D2 enable)
• 5.50 GEN D2-D3 switcher ( Download Here)

Warning: Before you install/run this application, please disable your KHBBS plugins ( usersyslib.prx and KHBBS_patch.prx 1). If you failed to follow this warn, your PSP may brick.

Tutorial:

Step 1

1) Extract 128119_D2D3Switcher.


















2) Copy D2-D3 Switcher and paste it right into the root of memory stick>> PSP>> GAME>> ....

Test control keys

• Once the test started, you must press a PSP button at a time.
• Each time you press the button, you'll see an image (flashing) of the pressed key.
• If not, it means that key has problems. (Hardware or Software problem)

Test Control Audio

• Once the test started, press L trigger to start a track from left box.
• Press R trigger to start a track from right box.

Test Control Pixel

• One the test started, change the wallpapers by pressing L or R trigger to locate dead pixels.
• After the dead pixels detected, move your cursor over the pixels and press X button to start pixel repair.
• To return to main menu, press [START] button.

Fully control the brightness level of your PSP's screen [BrightPad v5]: PSP Plugins

For all the BrightPad out there it’s time to upgrade… Mootjeuh has released BrightPad v5. It’s the brightness contol plugin that does more than your XMB-Built in PSP brightness control. Besides fully control the brightness level of your PSP's screen, the plugin also help you to determine the current power of your PSP battery. Grab and test it.

BrightPad v5 Change-log:

• Replaced 'minimal brightness' by 'default brightness' in the configuration file
• Removed 'show remaining' and replaced it by 'button mask time', where you put the button to hide or show the battery's remaining online time.
• Added a bar where the current brightness is shown while changing, you could say it's the beginning of a GUI
• As usual, in-game you'll first have to press 'primary button mask' and then 'button mask time' to hide or show the battery's remaining time.

Step 2

The next step, you need to enable the plugins in recovery menu. Please enable all the plugins especially usersystemlib_wrapper.prx and  KHBBS_patch.prx. If you have problems to enable the plugin, please refer the guide provided ( Guide enable PSP plugins).

Monster hunter freedom unite...One of the top selling psp games by capcom. just like the title says, in this game, you have to take down various types of monster in severals hunting grounds. It's been a
massive fenomena worldwide and gain a mass number of fans. Basicly in this game, you hunt monsters using various type of weapons and traps. after that, collect items or monster's bodyparts and use it to create stronger weapon and armors. for first time players, i'm warning you, this game is veeeerrrrryyyyy hard! Note this, there is NO LEVEL for your character and NO AUTO LOCK SYSTEM! Main weapon to master this game is experients!

 Stronger armors and weapons will be useless without long experients in killing monsters. There is various types and sizes of monsters for you to take down in monster hunter freedom unite. From fire breathing sky dragon, rathalos to gorilla who like to fart, congalala. the sizes, there monster that is smaller than your character to 100 times larger. one more interesting faqs about this game is they drive the player to communicate with another player in order to solve difficult mission rather than make them stay shut in their room. Just a little something for you: Music.prx. This plugin will help you to play your tunes while working on your PSP. That's mean: you can listen to music while playing games, running any application or working on your XMB. The plugin developer, Vreg: decided to modify the original music.prx (joek2100) into a working one for 5.50 GEN-D3 and he also claims this is his first release ever .. Actually,  I guess this plugin isn't any different from joek2100’s plugin —since original plugin also works on 5.50 GEN-D3. Anyway, both plugins really useful for people love to listen music while working.

Requirement:

• PSP Custom Firmware enable

Tutorial

Step 1

1) Extract 5.50Music.prx winrar file.

2) Open seplugins folder.

3) Copy all the files and paste them into root of memory stick>> seplugins>>.....

May 30, 2010 Play 6.20 PSP Games on 5.50 Gen D3 or 5.00 m33-6 Custom Firmware [m33_620 Beta 2]: PSP Plugins & Patcher

But! There is a catch. A couple days back Torky, the coder has released a cool plugin: m33_620… m33_620 lets you to play new PSP games that released only for 6.20 firmware on your 5.50 Gen D3 or 5.00 m33-6 Custom Firmware.However, the plugin still in Beta and needs a lot of improvement.

Although we no yet confirm on it's abilities, but some sources have proved that the plugin works well and enable 5.50 Gen D3 or 5.00 m33-6 Custom Firmware to play new games. I have prepared a few of steps on how to install and run this plugin on your PSP. So, go dig those up.

Requirement:

• Only for PSP 5.50 Gen D3 or 5.00 m33-6 Custom Firmware.
• m33_620 plugin (Click Here for Source and Download location)

Warning:

Please, avoid to try m33_620 plugin on PSP 3000 and 2000(TA-088V3)

because the toturial needs you to enter your PSP flash 0.

Step 1: Install the plugin

1) Extract m33_620.prx Beta 2.


















2) Copy m33_620.prx file and paste it into root of memory stick>> seplugins>>...

3) Inside your seplugins folder, open game text file. Copy this (blue) command 'ms0:/seplugins/m33_620.prx 1' and paste it on game text as shown in red circle.


Close the text and save it.






Step 2: Configure Recovery Menu

The next step, you need to enable the plugin in recovery menu. If you have problems to enable the plugin, please refer the guide provided ( Guide enable PSP plugins).


After you are successfully enable the plugin, please stay tune on your Recovery Menu.

1) On your Recovery Menu, select Configuration and press enter.










2) Select 'Use version.txt' and press enter to enable it. After you're done, exit the recovery menu.




Step 3: Enter Flash 0

Warning:

Just follow the instructions given. Never touch or change or replace on other flash 0 files.

 If you failed to follow this warning, you may brick your PSP.

1) On your PSP XMB, press [SELECT] button to activate your PSP VSH MENU.


Select 'USB DEVICE', then toggle control buttons to change it into 'Flash 0'. Exit the VSH MENU. 


Connect the PSP to your computer.



2)Select 'vsh' folder.






3) Open 'etc' folder.





4) Double clicks on version to open the text file.










5) You will find, 'release' labeled with '5.50' or '5.00' ( Based on your current Custom Firmware). Replace the label with '6.20' as shown on the picture.

After you have finished, save the text file and exit your Flash 0.

Guide on how to take Screenshots while playing PSP Games/XMB through PSP [CWCheat & FreeCheat]: PSP Tip & Guide

Introducing a new tip  to share on how to take game screenshots through your PSP with two different plugins: CWCheat and FreeCheat —both are multi-function homebrew plugins — enable game cheat code (main function).

From what I gather, after some trial and experiences, both plugins are the best tools to take screenshots rather than other plugins that released since the screenshot plugin introduced. CWCheat and FreeCheat can give you quality performance and less problems while snapping photos. To use the plugins, you need to follow a few guide that I already provided.

Guide on how to take screenshots through your PSP [CWCheat and FreeCheat]


Tutorial 1

Requirement:

• PSP Custom Firmware enable
• CWCheat plugin (Download Here)

If you have problems to install CWCheat plugin, 

please refer the guide provided. (Guide on how to install/run CWCheat)

Step 1

1) To activate CWCheat main menu, you need to press [SELECT] button for several seconds (over than 4 seconds) on your XMB.

1) This is the main menu of CWCheat plugin. Normally, when you enable the plugin (on Recovery Menu) all CWCheat functions will automatically activate. But sometimes, problems may occur. What I mean is, although your CWCheat screenshots mode is active but you can not run it. To solve the problem, you need to do a small 'check-up' on the plugin preference.

2) Press [SELECT] button to enter the main menu. Choose 'Settings' and press enter.

3) You will see some option there. What you need to do is, make sure 'Screenshoot compatibility mode' is labeled by [Y]

After that, select 'Change buttons' to proceed to next step

4) On the 'Change Button' a few of button configuration. You will see 'Screenshoot' was labeled with [L trigger]. It means, [L Trigger] is a hotkey to catch screenshots while you are playing games or in XMB. You change the hotkey by pressing any buttons that suit you. After you finished, exit the menu and test it by pressing the hotkey that you choose.

Note:

While taking a screenshot, your PSP screen will freeze and your Memory Stick LED will flashing for a few seconds (the process is running). Wait until the process done. If the process took much time, it means you failed to snap the picture. Your PSP will hang too. So, if you face this problem, you need to restart your PSP. (No good for ChickHEN newbies).

Check your new screenshots on PSP XMB>> Picture>> Memory Stick>>....They should be there or you can check them direct inside root of memory stick>> Picture/ root of memory stick>> Game>> photo


Tutorial 2

Requirement:

• PSP Custom Firmware enable
• FreeCheat ( Download Here)

If you have problems to install FreeCheat plugin, 

please refer the guide provided. (Guide on how to install/run FreeCheat)

Step 1

To activate FreeCheat main menu, you need to press [NOTE] button for several seconds (over than 4 seconds) on your XMB/Game.

1) This is the main menu of FreeCheat plugin. The plugin will let you to take screenshot in two methods. The first method is : you can take a screenshot through the main menu of FreeCheat and the second is: you can take a screenshot by pressing any hotkeys that you set (Without enter the main menu).

For the 1st method: When you find any screenshots that you want to take, quickly press [NOTE] button to enter the main menu and at the same time to pause the scene. Next, choose SCREENSHOT on the main menu and press enter. You will see your PSP screen wiping down while the process is running. You will get the picture after the process was finished.

The 2nd method: First, you need to set up a hotkey before you can take any screenshots. To set it, you need to enter FreeCheat Setup. Select 'Option' on the menu and press enter.

2) This is FreeCheat SETUP. You will see 2 options that relate with our tutorial. They are 'Setup Hotkeys' and 'SCREENSHOT Setup'. 

To set up the hotkey, select 'Select Hotkeys' and press enter. Please refer 3A figure.

To modify quality of pictures that you will take, save format pictures and save picture location, select 'SCREENSHOT Setup' and press enter. Please refer 3B figure.

3A) You will see various of FreeCheat hotkeys. Select 'Screenshot hotkey' and press enter.

After you enter 'Screenshot hotkey', you need to configure your own hotkey to take screenshot (Press Hotkey). When you are finished, exit the menu.

*Sorry-I failed to provide 'Press Hotkey' figure.

3B) This is SCREENSHOT Setup. You can configure them by press enter button on any option or toggle button on any option.

4) Finally, test your work by pressing the hotkey that you choose.

Note:

May 28, 2010 Play DS games on your PSP (DS emulator: ): PSP Homebrew Emulator

Jonlime, DSonPSP project… It gets your PSP back on DS emulator — Nintendo DS touchscreen console… Don’t get it twisted though. As noted below, this emulator is still Beta/Unofficial and needs a lot of fixs. So, for now, do not expect much that you can play all DS games on this emulator. But, you can try it on your PSP to see how much DSonPSP project has develop since Yoshihiro is having a break from the PSP scene.

This is a continuation of the old DSonPSP project. I have included one homebrew game… Also in the package is a file called “samples.zip” it contains all of the DS samples that i have tested and that work, if you want to test them uncompress it and put the .nds files in the same folder as the eboot

May 26, 2010 Comprehensive ISO/CSO for your PSP [ISO Tool v1.43]: PSP Homebrew Application

A couple days back Japanese Homebrew Developer released ISO TOOL v1.43… ISO TOOL v1.43 is a comprehensive tool and the application lets you convert ISO to CSO or vise verse, decrypt EBOOT files, recovery EBOOT, rename ISO/CSO and import game prx files. It also works as PSP game patcher. ( I'm still working out on it). The most important, you can work all the functions trough your PSP.

Tutorial

Step 1

1) Extract 128070_isotool143

3) Copy iso_tool folder and paste it right into the root of memory stick>> PSP>> GAME>> ....

If you still do not know on where to paste this folder, please refer to the Guide on how to install application provided.(Installing Guide)

Step 2

On your PSP XMB>> Games>> Memory Stick>> ISO Tool v1.43
