Jan 22, 2011 Guide : How to Downgrade/Upgrade PSP Custom Firmwares with Hellcat's Recovery Flasher ver. 1.65


I want to remake a new guide on how to How to Downgrade/Upgrade PSP Custom Firmwares with Hellcat's Recovery Flasher but I failed. No matter how hard I try, I cannot snap any photos of Recovery Flasher. I'm so frustrated!=.=! Never mind. In order to cure this frustration, I have decided to released this short guide for you guys. It is a simple guide and maybe it is not sufficient enough to view the whole process, but it will help you somehow. So, this is a guide  How to Downgrade/Upgrade PSP Custom Firmwares with Hellcat's Recovery Flasher ver. 1.65.

Warning:
Never attempt to install this tool on PSP 2000 (TA088V3)/3000/GO. 
You may brick you PSP


The guide consists of the following parts:
  1. Hellcat's Recovery Flasher ver. 1.65 installation
  2. Select your target pbp file
  3. Run Hellcat's Recovery Flasher ver. 1.65.

STEP 1

You need to install Hellcat's Recovery Flasher ver. 1.65 (Basic Installation). 



STEP 2

Next, you will need to choose a firmware pbp file. Select your target pbp file.

Let's say, for instance, I want to downgrade my PSP from firmware 6.35 to 6.20. And then I need to place firmware 620 pbp file right into root of my memory stick.

I'm already provided a few firmware pbp files.

Note : X-XX is for firmware version

1)Extract FWX-XX,rar.







2)Just copy XXX.PBP and paste it right into your root of memory stick>>.......




STEP 3

Now, it's time to run your Hellcat's Recovery Flasher ver. 1.65.

The method in this step is quite similar to the previous tutorial. You can refer the ' previous tutorial'  in order to run Hellcat's Recovery Flasher

Jan 21, 2011 Hellcat's Recovery Flasher ver 1.65 released - Upgrader/Downgrader


PlayStation Portable - the PSP scene keeps on rockin'. Now, it's Hellcat turns to bring good news to us. He just released a new Recovery Flasher and now at version 1.65. In order to keep track of the latest happenings in the scene, he has fixed some compatibility issues, added new supports and functions, and much more. In addition, he also included new firmware packs to install clean 6:20 OFW using Recovery Flasher. Whoa! I guess he just made 'hacking' so much more easier. If you are new to this tool, Hellcat's Recovery Flasher ver 1.65 is a tool which able to recover semi-bricks, Up-/Downgrades your CFW, * flash *ANY* CFW directely to almost any other ,backup/restore firmware flash (not NAND dump), make and restore NAND dumps and you can done it all without Pandora.

Hellcat's Recovery Flasher ver 1.65 Change log:
  • fixed compatibility with 6.20-TN HEN
  • added check for 6.20-TN and the 6.35 HEN
  • added check for 6.20-TN HEN's flash0 protection being enabled
  • added check for configured game mode plugins when on 6.20-TN and the 6.35 HEN
  • added detection of the PSP4000 model and the PSPgo
  • added appropriate handling of all of the above, when detected, to avoid unnecessary tears casted by users
  • added support to handle 6.00, 6.10 and 6.20 FWs for restore of (filewise) flash backup and clean install from scratch
  • added decryption of extracted (hidden) updater driver modules - and so enabling downgrade from 6.35+ (only on hackable PSPs though, for now)
  • added new firmware packs to install clean 6.20 OFW using Recovery Flasher
  • bundled the existing 5.50-GEN firmware packs with the main release

1) Extract rflash165.rar.















2)Just copy PSP folder and all rfp files and paste them right into your root of memory stick>>.......

Merge all the folders and files.

May 22, 2010 Guide on how to run Hellcat's Recovery Flasher 1.60 (5.50 GEN-D3 FW Pack): PSP Guides

In the previous post, I have showed you a guide on how to install Hellcat's Recovery Flasher 1.60 (5.50 GEN-D3 FW Pack) on your PSP. As you knew, Hellcat's Recovery Flasher 1.60 (5.50 GEN-D3 FW Pack) is an application that flashes a fresh M33 CFW (from 3.71 and above) to recover semi-bricks or to up-/downgrade CFW without using Pandora. Besides that it also can backup the FW flash and restore selected parts such as XMB theme, settings, PSN activation, complete firmware and much more. Now, I want to share with you a guide on how to run Hellcat's Recovery Flasher 1.60 (5.50 GEN-D3 FW Pack) on your PSP.


Requirement:
Warning: Never try Hellcat's Recovery Flasher 1.60 
on PSP 2000 (TA-088V3) and PSP 3000

  • PSP (except PSP 2000 (TA-088V3) and PSP 3000) Custom Firmware enable

Tutorial

After you have successfully installed Hellcat's Recovery Flasher 1.60 (5.50 GEN-D3 FW Pack)......


Step 1

On your PSP XMB>> Games>> Memory Stick>> Hellcat's Recovery Flasher and press enter.


1) Select 'I AGREE, now take me to the program' to enter the application main menu.




2) This is Hellcat's Recovery Flasher main menu. First, you need to choose which Target FW (based on PBP.file that placed in the root of PSP Memory Stick) that you want to flash on your PSP. In this situation, I want upgrade my PSP to 5.50 Gen-D3 CFW. I'm also already placed 550.PBP inside root of Memory Stick [As shown in guide on how to install Hellcat's Recovery Flasher 1.60 (5.50 GEN-D3 FW Pack)]. Select 'load from external FW pack'.


3) Next, select 'Install CFW (of version selected above)' to continue the process.






4) After that, you will see a message that ask you to choose a Firmware-Pack. You need to choose either PSP2000_550-GEN-D3.rfp or PSP1000_550-GEN-D3. If you used a slim please select PSP2000_550-GEN-D3 or for PHAT you need to select PSP1000_550-GEN-D3.



5) We almost done. You need to choose whether reset or do not reset your PSP previous settings.



Note: Reset settings is recommended



6) Finally, the application will flash your PSP. Please wait for a few minutes before the process is finished. You will ask to press any button at the final stage of the process before you need to make sure your PSP completely shutdown.

7) After successfully finishes all steps above, switch on your PSP.

Additional guide:

You possibly have problem to activate your 5.50 Gen D3 vsh menu (Press [SELECT] Button). If yes, you need to follow a few instructions that I already provided.

Guide:


1)First step, you need to enter 5.50 Gen D3 recovery menu. To enter the recovery menu, please refer guide provided. ( Guide to enable plugins on recovery menu)

2) After successfully enter Recovery Menu, select Configuration and press enter.








3) Next, choose 'Use VshMenu' and press enter button to make 'currently' is labeled by VshMenu.


Finally, exit the Recovery Menu and enjoy....

Tutorial:

Step 1

1)Extract rflash160








2) Copy RECOVERY folder and paste it right into the root of memory stick>> PSP>> GAME>> ....

If you still do not know on where to paste this folder, please refer to the Guide on how to install application provided.(Installing Guide)




Step 2


1) Extract Hellcat's Recovery Flasher 1.60 (5.50 GEN-D3 FW Pack)+550.PBP zip file.















2)Copy 550.PBP, PSP1000_550-GEN-D3.rfp and PSP2000_550-GEN-D3 and paste them right into root of your PSP Memory Stick.

Note: Please make sure, 5.50 eboot PBP file named with 550.PBP

Step 3

On your PSP XMB>> Games>> Memory Stick>> Hellcat's Recovery Flasher and press enter.

Jan 3, 2010 Upgrade and Downgrade PSP Guide by using Hellcat


Note: This  application is not for PSP 3000 and PSP 2000 TA-088V3.

This time, Fixmyproblems have chose Guide Installing Hellcat Recovery Flasher 1.6 as the next post. I will explain how to install and running the application into your PSP.





Before we start, let me explain the real function of Hellcat Recovery Flasher 1.6.


  • Upgrade / Downgrade CFW and OFW PSP.
  • Restore Semi-Brick PSP.
  • Flash CFW PSP directly.
  • Backup contents of flash in PSP.
  •  Others.

    Although this application has several functions, but in this tutorial I only focused on how to Downgrade / Upgrade PSP firmware. To make this tutorial clear, we assume that we will downgrade PSP from 5.50 Gen D3 CFW to CFW 5.00 m33-6.


    Requirement:
    • PSP 1000 and 2000 with CFW enable (except TA-088V3 mobo).If you are not sure about the PSP motherboard, you can refer the guidence I have prepared (Motherboard Guide)
    • Hellcat Recovery Flasher 1.6 (Download)
    • 5.00 Official Firmware. (Download)


    Step 1:


    1.1) Extract rflash160 zip file.



    1.2) Unzipped rflash 160.





    1.3) The folder inside rflash160 folder. 



    1.4) Folders inside rflash160.
    Copy Recovery folder.
    Paste RECOVERY folder into the memory stick> PSP> GAME>.....

    If you have no idea to paste this file, please refer installing guide that provided ( Installing guide) in step 2.



    Step 2.



    2.1) Extract file PSP_500_FW_UPD





    2.2) Content inside PSP_500_FW_UPD zip file.







    2.3) 500 PBP file inside PSP_500_FW_UPD folder.
    Copy this PBP file and paste it into root of your memory stick.

    If you got PBP file named by EBOOT, please rename it to 500 first.





    The example has been shown in the image below.













    Step 3.

    After completion of step 2, it's time for you to move to step 3.

    Before I start step 3, I want to apologize for not providing a pictorial tutorial because I have encounter a few problems. However, I will try to explain to you as clear as possible to ensure the success of the process in step 3.


    • First, make sure you have a PSP battery power above 78% to avoid any unwanted problems. 
    • In XMB> Game> Memory stick> enter the Hellcat's Recovery Flasher application as shown in the diagram above. 
    • After that, you will be ask for confirmation to use the application. 
    • If you agree and want to continue the process of flashing, please select "I agree, now take me to the program '. 
    • Next you will be shown the main menu of this application. There are several options on the main menu. You only have to make sure 2 things which are "Target FW:", and "Install CFW (of version selected above)". 
    • We have chosen to Downgrade PSP to 5.00 and we have already paste 500 PBP file into the root of memory stick. So, you must make sure the "Target FW: 5.00".If ‘Target FW’ do not show the figure 5.00, then you must press X on "Target FW:" and find 5.00. 
    • After you are done with the step above, select "Install CFW" and press X. 
    • The CFW installation menu will appear. 
    • You will be given 3 options which are reset the settings of your PSP (hours, theme, etc.), does not reset the settings and exit the application. If you want to continue this process, select the settings either reset or not reset settings. (Recommended: reset your settings). 
    • Your PSP will display information about the installation. Let the process run. 
    • Process will end when the sentence "All done, press any button to shutdown". 
    • Press any button. 
    • Light power of your PSP will blink and you just leave it until the light completely shut.
    • After that, switch on your PSP and you have successfully installed CFW 5.00 M33-6.
