Jan 16, 2010 Installing Homebrew Application Guide (Newbie)

This guide is intended to guide PSP users who are still new in hacking PSP and want to make their PSP multifunction.

In fact, no specific guidelines in installing Homebrew application and this tutorial provided is based on methods that are frequently used in installing application.

Step 1:

Once you download any Homebrew application, usually you will receive the zip file. I have prepared two examples as below:

The first example is CheatUp application while the second is PSP iden.  At the nearly stage you need to extract this file to get the contents. You can extract them by using Winrar Software. If your computer has no Winrar software, you can download it for free. (Trial Version) . (Download here)

Here are the results after both files have been extracted.

If you look at the diagram above, both of them have different flows. Example 1 has a longer flow because the layout is made to guide users on how to paste the right folder into the right place in PSP memory stick. It is important for you to copy the correct file. If you wrong, your installer will be shown as corrupt (damaged).

If you are not sure about it, you can refer the guide installation in the folder that has been extracted. This guide is usually provided in the READ ME file.

Step 2: Paste the file into memory stick .

Once you copy the right files, the next step is paste the file into memory stick. Connect your PSP by using USB cable or put your memory stick inside card reader. Diagram below shows an overview of where you need to paste the file that has been copied.

The diagram is only an example and maybe the folders in your memory stick have little different look or arrangement. Normally, the folders in PSP memory stick are PSP, PICTURE, MUSIC, VIDEO, ISO, and MP ROOT and there may be other file such as SEPLUGINS.

The root of memory stick. Click PSP folder.

Next, open GAME folder.

Paste the copied folder.

You should not change or delete some files in memory stick especially for PSP 3000 because it stored sensitive files. (The expertise has exception).
